Once Upon Time...!

A Confession:

.
.

" Were I to fall in love ,indeed, it would be a different thing! But I never have been in love; it is not my way, or my nature; and I do not think I ever shall."

Emma - Jane Austen's Emma

.

.

A Fact:

.

" She had been entirely under a delusion, totally ignorant of her own heart."

Jane Austen's Emma

.

.

A Desire:

.

"The absolute need of some one person who should be all in all to her, and to whom she should be all in all"

J. W. Cross speaking of his wife, George Eliot and her relation with her brother

.

.

A Confrontation:

.

"You are shutting yourself up in a narrow self-delusive fanaticism, which is only a way of escaping pain by starving into dullness all the highest powers of your nature"

Philip to Maggie in George Eliot's The Mill on the Floss

.

.

A Prophecy:

.

" You will be thrown into the world some day, and then every rational satisfaction of your nature that you deny now, will assault you like a savage appetite."

Philip to Maggie

.

.

Pre-Final:

.

Emma , after a sequence of misunderstanding and troubles, achieved self-knowledge and married the guy who loved her and she loved! Maggie achieved self-knowledge as well but pretty late, and she lost everything she once desired, lost all the ones who loved her and those she loved, she denied the love she once had.. and then died tragically! Both of them loved.. and were loved.. but it's all about how it ended!!

The End :
